Super sweet, colorful and bendable – Little Friends are buddies all through childhood, because the little dolls made from sturdy plastic will go along on any adventure: going diving in the bathtub, chasing away monsters under the bed or having a picnic under the kitchen table.
Little Friends always take part, especially when it comes to the things that kids like doing best: playing, playing, playing. Classic dollhouse role games, experiences in school or with the family... with the little dolls, kids can role play scenarios from their everyday life. The dolls accompany little explorers while they grow up, helping them deal with their experiences and develop socially. Our Little Friends theme worlds cover all sorts of experiences that little doll fans are interested in – and with a little imagination a reflection of everyday life comes to life.
The Little Friends are like all children, with individual interests, moods and needs. But they all have one thing in common – they're always ready to have fun!
The characters of the Little Friends are cheeky, curious and smart. They refer back to our well-known cloth dolls and win us over with their cute and child-friendly look that makes them instantly likeable. Ines Frömelt was the original Little Friends designer. She explains the idea behind them: "We wanted to offer children a true alternative to dolls that are either unrealistic, overly stylish or look too much like adults. Children need imaginative toys, especially those that will spark their own imagination and give them the space to put their ideas into practice.” That’s why the Little Friends look like children of the same age, in line with the motto "kids for kids." They are made with a bendable wire frame, which is covered in durable plastic. This allows children to bend the Little Friends into different poses.
"Children should see themselves reflected in our Little Friends," emphasizes Product Manager Vanessa Ruck-Naß. And so that every child can really identify with "their" Little Friend, in the last few years our range has grown to include a variety of different designs and characters. Another special feature is the fact that they are so light, small and handy. This means that they can fit into any pocket or bag, no matter how small, and go everywhere! "My favorite dolls are cute little Mali and clever Lisbeth. And because I love dogs, the little puppies are naturally also my favorites. Not far behind that is the little piglet!" says Product Manager Vanessa Ruck-Naß smiling.
On that topic: The Little Friends animals are naturally an important part of making the childlike world as realistic as possible for play. That's why more and more animal companions are being added to the colorful world of the Little Friends. "At the moment my favorite animals are the group of elephants and the giraffe. I really like the clear designs and the expressive, distinct colors," says Ines Frömelt enthusiastically about the new additions to the Little Friends animal world.
Children are constantly watching the behavior of adults around them and love imitating what they see in role playing. "They like holding a mirror up to us adults!" laughs Dr. Jan-David Freund. The qualified psychologist and product manager for the HABA Learning Program says "Children generally give their Little Friends their own names and start attributing certain character traits to them." For example, if Mali is afriad of large dogs, it makes complete sense that she only dares to go past the neighbor's garden with her human best friend. "My two sons, aged 1 and 5, immediately integrated the cow from the Little Friends animal world into their play. She simply radiates a sense of friendly calm, and patiently does whatever they want her to – whether that's being ridden, holding up a pyramid of animals or clumsily running into a tower of building blocks. That's why she's definitely one of my Little Friends favorites," continues Dr. Jan-David Freund. With their cool design, high-quality material and light weight, the Little Friends instantly capture the hearts of people of all ages.
Little Friends have their feet firmly planted in our world and they experience everyday things. Precisely the things that your children imagine for their little dolls, or that they would like to (role) play.
Our exciting and varied theme worlds make it easy for children to immerse themselves in their fantasy stories and experience everything they want to with their Little Friends. What about an exciting safari or visiting a farm? The horses there are excited about a jumping tournament at the horse farm. Is one of the animals sick? No problem! It will be well looked after in the veterinary clinic. While it is being treated the Little Friends can spend their time playing in the tree house or in the garden. Anyone who prefers to travel can head off with the Holiday Trip and Camping Trip play sets. Then the Little Friends can relax on the lounge chairs or sit around the campfire. Our stories about the exciting experiences of the Little Friends describe child-appropriate everyday situations and are perfect to read aloud or for children to discover for themselves. And all of them put you in a good mood!
By the way: playing with dolls is important for children’s social development. In particular different role-playing games, slipping into different identities; in other words “pretending as if...” is an important impetus for children’s emotional development. Their social behavior is developed incidentally and in a playful manner, and their sense of empathy is trained.
The content of the Little Friends site is child-friendly and safe. The range of what is offered is diverse and appeals to the different interests and needs of children:
Which skirt should Lilli wear today? Or maybe it should be a pair of pants? With the Little Doll designer, children can play with the Little Friends digitally in a simple and child-friendly way. The designs can be personalized, printed out, sent and shared on social networks.
You will keep finding new crafting ideas to suit the stories here. These ideas go from child-friendly and simple crafting instructions to recipes and suggestions for nice things that you can do yourself either for or with your child.
Children get to know the Little Friends here. Just like in a friend book, Lilli, Mali, Matze and the others reveal what they like to play, and what their favorite color and food are. This brings the little dolls to life and gives children some initial inspiration that they then pick up on, integrate into their playing or change.
