Play gyms and activity arches – baby's first toy

A baby's senses are wide awake. Shapes, colours, faces, sounds, smells – everything is admired, observed and felt with the same insatiable curiosity.

Especially in the first months, when the baby is not yet mobile and cannot go exploring on its own, it depends on stimulation from its caregivers. Play gyms and activity arches from HABA offer a wide range of visual, tactile and acoustic stimuli and are an ideal toy for the very youngest during this time.

Stimulating every sense with play arches

If babies are not carried, they spend their early weeks mostly on their backs looking up. In the pram, pram chains provide variety, in the cot or on the changing table mobiles are an indispensable part of baby equipment. For the rest of the time, play gyms or activity arches are recommended. With their figures hanging above the child or grasping toys, which move, rattle or rustle, they stimulate the baby's perception with many different stimuli.

At first babies watch this play paradise "only" in amazement, but soon they actively reach for the figures, feel them or kick them with their feet. Thus the arches, also called "Activity Centre", not only stimulate early sensory perception but also support fine motor skills.

Play blankets and crawling mats

With some play gyms and activity arches, a soft play blanket with pretty motifs and small "discovery elements" is already included. Other HABA play gyms, which are simply placed over a crawling mat, can however be fitted individually with various hanging elements. On a play blanket babies not only lie soft and comfortable, but also, when they are able to roll over or crawl after a few months, experience a variety of stimuli "from below". In addition, play rugs and blankets are attractive, long-lasting accessories for the nursery and children's room.
