When children romp around a lot, they sometimes need a break
Everything children experience during the day is new and exciting to them. That's why breaks are so important. But children cannot always judge for themselves, when it's time for a break. After a wild day of play they may therefore be incredibly tired, but also become cranky and can't tell that they now need some time to relax.
They need your help with this. You can closely observe your child's need for sleep and respond when you notice that your child is getting tired. It is important that you always base your actions on your child's sleep behavior and habits. For example, with a midday break that is tailored to your child's needs. That doesn't always have to mean that your child sleeps during this time. Sometimes quiet activities, such as reading a book, listening to music, or cuddling together, are just right for relaxing.
Sleep problems & nightmares in children
If your child has problems falling asleep and complains about nightmares, you should take time to uncover the causes. Sometimes it's enough to create a relaxed atmosphere some time before going to bed create a relaxed atmosphere, so that your child can already calm down. Sometimes family rituals or physical contact help so that your child can fall asleep.
