Let the treasure hunt begin!
As with any other (themed) children's birthday party, we recommend using the HABA Birthday party checklist. Create and distribute the invitations about two to three weeks before the birthday. Use the HABA template invitation card for children's birthdays “Find the Code” – either with a pirate motif or in a fantasy style:

Organising your treasure hunt
Fortunately, the treasure hunt with “Find the Code” can be started in any weather: if it's raining, dull or cold, indoors – and, even better, outside in fine weather, for example as a photo treasure hunt. Depending on how much effort you want to put in, it can be helpful to involve close friends or family members in the organisation. The basic steps for preparing the treasure hunt are always the same, as described in the instruction booklet:
Select a puzzle card
Set the matching number code on the lock
Fill the treasure chest, e.g. with small card-, tin- or take-along games from HABA, dolls from the HABA Little Friends series, as well as accessories from the HABA Kaufladen, gifts, Terra Kids items or small sweet treats such as gummy bears and chocolate (especially popular: chocolate gold coins)
You can find more ideas under "Treasures and party favours for big and small treasure hunters."
Lock the treasure chest with a combination lock
Finally, place the clue card, the puzzle pieces of the treasure map and the game token in the puzzle box and hide these together with the treasure chest. A thrilling story in the instructions sets the right mood and provides helpful information, so the children can dive straight into the adventure right away. You can also give the children hints to help them find the hiding place and solve the puzzles.
Keepsakes for proud treasure hunters
After a successful treasure hunt you can photograph the little adventurers together and give them a very special treat: present them with a personalised certificate! You can download the templates from our website. Simply print them out, fill them in, and every treasure hunter will have a lovely memento!
Refreshments for lucky hunters
Adventurers get hungry: whether a classic birthday cake (perhaps shaped like a treasure chest) to kick off the party, muffins as provisions on the photo treasure hunt, or a picnic outdoors after the successful uncovering of the treasure – savoury bites and sweet snacks round off every treasure hunt with a delicious feast.
