\rWe at HABA know how scarce time, ideas and creative reserves for\u00A0birthday preparations\u00A0in everyday life between work and family really are. That's why with „Find the code“ we've already (almost) prepared everything you need for an exciting treasure hunt at a birthday party: An\u00A0attractive metal treasure chest to fill yourself, including an exciting treasure map to assemble, puzzle cards in various difficulty levels and an adjustable combination lock for ever-new puzzle adventures for children aged 5 to 10. The puzzles require no text.
Find the Code – From idea to the magnificent treasure chest
It began with the search for ideas
Antje Gleichmann, Member of the Spiel und Buch editorial team at HABA and Kai Haferkamp, a successful children's games author, ensured that a few good ideas became a concrete, flexible game concept. Antje Gleichmann had the idea for "Find the Code" while organising a treasure hunt at a children's birthday party. She was inspired by the ongoing hype around exit and escape games. Antje says: "Solving puzzles in a team to leave a locked room or crack a code fascinates not only adults." In this way she developed with "Find the Code" two original puzzle games for children: "Find the Code – Pirate Island" and "Find the Code – Fantasyland" mainly differ in theme. Both make it possible for parents to with minimal effort repeatedly set up an exciting treasure hunt for children.
Warning — contagious: game fever
Co‑author Kai Haferkamp was immediately excited by HABA's idea to develop a treasure hunt for children: "A real treasure chest and a combination lock already have a very strong appeal in themselves. For me it was important to pick up on that in a playful way and to create a dense, exciting treasure‑hunting atmosphere that motivates. At the same time I wanted to give children a quick start using playful and tactile elements familiar to them. We achieved this with the lovingly detailed puzzle treasure map: it is the basis for the puzzles and lets players immerse themselves in the respective world. At the same time it serves as the game board for a playing piece that visualises the progress of the treasure hunt and makes it easier to follow. Added to this are the puzzle tasks, which work without text and are practically self‑explanatory thanks to their symbols."
Maximum fun with minimal effort
With "Find the Code" all children become brave and enthusiastic treasure hunters. Right from the start of the treasure hunt adventure and action are in the air. The tension and anticipation build steadily and the search for the treasure is as thrilling as it is amusing. Co‑author Kai Haferkamp feels the same way: "Working with Antje Gleichmann on the content‑wise and visually perfect design of these puzzles and testing them together on treasure hunts made working on this game something very special for me, and I believe the two products that resulted have become a real little gem of a game!
