Hello, I'm Andreas!

Ein spannender Tag in der Tierklinik der Little Friends | Andreas

I am <Prod.Verlinkung> veterinarian in the <Prod.Verlinkung>veterinary clinic of Little Friends. It's a really exciting job, because every day is completely different! Today I'd like to tell you a little about our clinic and the animal visitors who come to see us.

09:00: The day at the veterinary clinic begins

When I get up in the morning, I'm already looking forward to all the patients who will be waiting for me that day. At the veterinary practice I meet my colleague <Prod.Verlinkung> Rebekka. Rebekka can easily calm nervous animals! That's great, because it's much easier to treat an animal on the examination table when it's not scared. Already the first four-legged patients and their owners are waiting for us.

11:00: A visit from Villa Frühlingsmorgen

Now it's <Prod.Verlinkung>Matze and his <Prod.Verlinkung>cat Sally, who hasn't wanted to eat since yesterday, who is next. Matze is very worried, but Rebekka explains exactly how we will examine Sally to find out what's wrong. I lift the kitten onto the examination table and begin to feel Sally and examine her with the instruments from my medical bag. Rebekka and Matze stroke the cat and she lies very calmly. Eventually I discover that the poor thing has an inflammation of the gums! With toothache Sally naturally doesn't want to eat, that is clear. Rebekka finds the tablets that will make the cat feel better quickly. She also gives her an injection for the pain and I explain to Matze that Sally should be rested for the next few days so that she quickly gets well again and wants to eat as before. That's sorted!

15:30: An emergency — quickly to the farm!

The phone rings and I hear from Farmer Franz that his cow will soon have her calf! So I quickly grab my bag and drive to the farm in the vet's car, because if there are complications during a birth it is important that a veterinarian can intervene quickly.

Once there I go straight into the stable, where Farmer Franz and little Vreni are already waiting for me. Vreni is very excited and eager about the new calf! Fortunately I don't have to do much at all, because nature has arranged it so that animals can give birth to their young without human help.

When the little calf is born, I wait to see whether it can find the mother's udder. "Great, that worked!", Franz exclaims happily. Afterwards I examine the animal's legs, belly and head and discuss with Farmer Franz when the calf must be vaccinated. "Will that hurt him?" asks Vreni, worried. "Only for a very short time!" I promise, and explain to her that this way the newborn calf can be protected against many diseases.

18:00: Four-legged overnight guests

In the evening Rebekka and I take care once more of the patients that we need to keep in the veterinary clinic for a short time so that we can continue to observe them. We examine each animal, feed them, sometimes take a little blood and change bandages. On the large scales we also check whether our patients are gaining or losing weight, because that is often a good indication of how their health is developing. Some of our guests can be sent home again tomorrow morning because they are well again. Then we'll be needed elsewhere — it never gets boring here!
