"Great, the sun's coming out!", calls Matze as he sits and plays in the building corner at the nursery after lunch. It had been raining in the morning, but now the first bright rays of sunshine are peeking through the clouds and making the puddles on the area in front of the nursery and on the grass sparkle. "Okay, children, time to tidy up!", says childcare worker Nina. "Anyone who is finished can get dressed and go outside."

Felicitas jumps up too. She had been looking at picture books with Lilli and Imke, but already dashes to the cloakroom. "Stop! We're supposed to tidy up!", calls Lilli after her. But Felicitas has already gone. "Don't worry about it," says Imke, "then the two of us will tidy up." The girls put the picture books into the box and then head to the cloakroom as well. It's very crowded here because after the wet morning everyone wants to get outside quickly.

When Imke and Lilli stand outside the building, they see Matze and Felicitas have already grabbed the football. "Today we're having a super-cool football tournament!", shouts Matze. "Imke, Lilli, you'll join, won't you?" Imke nods and pulls Lilli over to Matze and Felicitas. Then Mali and Elise come out of the house too. Matze waves them over straight away and sorts the teams: "Imke and Lilli play with me, Mali and Elise play with Felicitas," he decides. "It's a pity Milla isn't here," says Felicitas. "Yes," Matze agrees, "she plays really well. But you know she's visiting her dad at the moment. He lives in another town, so she can't see him that often. But Milla will be back on Monday, then she can play again."

The children take the ball out onto the meadow. Imke notices that the grass is still quite wet. "Would you like to be the goalkeeper?", she asks Lilli, who looks a little shy and then nods hesitantly. "I can't play football at all," she says. "At least that's what my big brother says." "Oh nonsense, we'll have lots of fun!", Imke tries to reassure her.

And then it starts: Lilli stands in one goal, Elise in the other. Felicitas gets the ball and her team starts. She passes to Mali and sprints off. On the wet grass she slips and almost falls. She can only just keep her balance. When she looks towards Mali, she sees Matze has already taken the ball from her. "Darn!", cries Felicitas and runs after him straight away. But Matze already has a lead, he shoots and ... "Goooal!" Matze, Imke and Lilli cheer. "I'm a proper football star!", boasts Matze. But Felicitas is annoyed: "He only scored because I slipped!"

Now everyone pays close attention and they pass the ball back and forth for quite a long time. Sometimes the ball is with Imke, then with Matze or Mali. Suddenly Felicitas charges at the opponents' goal and shoots. But the ball slips off her foot and has less power, so Lilli can hold it. "Brilliant!", calls Imke. "See, you can play football after all. Go on, tell your big brother!", she adds quickly. Lilli grins happily. But of course Felicitas is annoyed again. Yet a little later she gets another chance: Mali crosses the ball to Felicitas, who sprints off at once. Matze runs after her … and as the ball goes into the net, he slips and falls over. "Equaliser!", shouts Felicitas. Elise and Mali are pleased too. Lilli looks a little startled, but Imke says: "No one could have saved that shot, don't worry about it!"

And Matze? He picks himself up and looks down at himself: His clothes are really soaked and covered in muck. "Oh Matze", says Mali, "you're not a football star, you're a muck-ball star!" The girls laugh out loud about that. Matze looks cross at first, but then he grins too. "That's it for today!", calls Nina as she comes over to the children on the meadow. "Goodness Matze, what do you look like?", she asks in amazement. "Well, I look just like the football pros after a rain match!", he says proudly and goes back into the house with the others.
