Trick or treat!
First they ring the doorbell at Paul's neighbors, Pauline's parents. "Trick or treat!" the four shout in chorus when the front door opens. "Oh, oh, what scary witches and vampires are standing at the door?!" Pauline's dad calls with a wink. "I'd better fetch the sweets right away!" The first sweet treats land in the little baskets – and when the four reach the middle of the street, one of them is already overflowing. Time to take a short break. While Paul, Kalle, Kati and Pauline are already thinking about how to divide their loot among themselves, they suddenly hear a terrifying sound: "Uuu-aaa, uuu-aaa!" The four flinch in fright and Pauline clings to Kati's arm. "W-w-w-what was that?" Paul also asks, frightened. Then the sound occurs again, even louder and eerier than before.
"Uuu-aaa, uuu-aaa" echoes through the night. "I think the sound is getting closer!" Kati whispers. "What are we going to do now?" Meanwhile everyone feels rather uneasy and they decide to run home quickly. They run as fast as they can in their costumes, but after only a few meters they suddenly hear roaring laughter. Immediately the four stop and look around – and there they already see who had given them such a fright. Behind a tree three small white ghosts appear and hold their bellies from laughing. "Ha, ha, very funny," Paul grumbles. He's a bit annoyed that they've been tricked like that. And of all nights on Halloween! But when the little ghosts come closer and he recognizes his teammates from the football team, his anger quickly disappears. "So, did you get lots of sweets too?" Paul asks. "No, unfortunately not," says one of Paul's football friends, somewhat disappointed. "We rang at several doors, but many people weren't home." Then Paul, Kati, Kalle and Pauline put their heads together and make a very spontaneous and very nice decision: "How about we share the sweets?" Kalle suggests. "We have so much, it's enough for all of us!" The little ghosts are, of course, delighted and they make their way to Paul's house right away. For there Paul's parents have, in the meantime, already prepared everything for a spooky-beautiful Halloween party – with jelly, colorfully decorated muffins and a delicious fruit punch.
