Easter greetings
The sun peeks timidly through the clouds and shines straight into Paul's room. Its rays tickle his nose. 'Achooooo!' He first has to sneeze loudly. Paul yawns and stretches thoroughly, then he quickly rolls out of his bed. It is a beautiful spring morning — and a very special one at that: today is Easter! Paul is already really excited about the Easter egg hunt.
Eggs, eggs, eggs - where are they?
After breakfast his best friend, the cat Kira, comes to visit and then they head straight to the garden. 'I'm so curious where the Easter Bunny has hidden the eggs,' Paul exclaims. 'Oh yes, me too,' laughs Kira the cat. Together they set off to search. They look behind every bush and every shrub, but nowhere is an Easter egg to be seen. 'Strange,' Paul murmurs, 'the Easter Bunny must have been here and hidden the eggs! We have to search again, more carefully!' And so the two continue to roll all over the garden. They even look into the bird's nest on the cherry tree and into the deep hole in the ground where the little blue mice live. But no Easter egg anywhere in sight! 'Funny,' Paul wonders, 'that's never happened before!'.
Suddenly Kira the cat pricks up her ears. 'Psst, Paul, listen over there…' she whispers. Both are as quiet as mice and listen intently. Then Paul hears it too: a soft, deep sobbing. It comes from the farthest corner of the garden. Quickly Paul and Kira roll over there… and who do they see? The Easter Bunny! He sits very sadly next to his empty basket and is blowing his nose hard into his handkerchief. 'Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear…' he laments sadly. 'Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear… this has never happened to me before!' 'Hello, dear Easter Bunny,' Paul and Kira greet him, 'can we help you somehow?'
Startled, the Easter Bunny looks up! Oh my goodness, now he's been discovered too! That's just what he didn't need! 'I have so much work, because this year I have to hide twice as many Easter eggs as last year. So I thought I'd just hop twice as fast. But in doing so I didn't notice that some eggs had tumbled out of the basket. And when I arrived here, it was suddenly empty. Now I can't hide any Easter eggs for you anymore!'
Again the Easter Bunny sadly blows his nose and puts his paws over his face. Paul and Kira the cat look at each other and nod to one another. 'Dear Easter Bunny,' Paul says, 'don't be sad. We'll help you find the missing Easter eggs!'
The Easter Bunny can hardly believe his luck and before he knows it Paul and the cat are already off rolling — here and there across Kullerbü. At the windmill Kira finds an Easter egg, Paul finds one at the big gate at the end of the street. After a few minutes they have discovered five more colorful Easter eggs and roll back contentedly to Paul's house, where the Easter Bunny is still sitting in the garden and resting a bit — from all the hopping around and from the shock over the lost Easter eggs.
'Look what we found, dear Easter Bunny,' Paul calls from a distance, 'seven Easter eggs!' 'Oh, luckily you found all the missing eggs. Then Easter is saved!' the Easter Bunny rejoices, grabs his basket and waves goodbye to the two. 'Thank you very much! And see you next year!' With that he hops away quickly.
Paul and Kira look happily at the colorful Easter eggs, which shine beautifully in the sun. This Easter egg hunt was especially fun! And they are already looking forward to the Easter celebration next year.
