Appointments and activities – What's coming up in the 23rd month?
Visit an adventure playground: Climbing is one of many children's favorite activities. A trip to the adventure playground is just the thing. Some playgrounds even have a water pump – wonderful on hot summer days. Here the children can play in the mud and the parents have the opportunity to relax and chat with other parents.
Forest day: A lot of fresh air is not only healthy for children but also for adults. On a forest day you can smell the fresh air among the trees and really let off steam. Why not prepare a Picnic in advance – then you won't be dependent on hunger or thirst. Go on a discovery tour to wild animals and enjoy the carefree hours together!
Important developmental milestones in the 23rd month
Recognizing colors: Most toddlers can now colors recognize and distinguish them, but often still cannot name them. That can take a few more months.
Climbing: To get what they want, little ones develop great skill in climbing. Whether a chair or a table – everything is repurposed as a ladder.
Reaction: Most toddlers are already quite good at throwing a ball, running and climbing, but they still have difficulty avoiding objects.
Friendships: Interest in peers increases. However, children still tend to play alongside one another rather than together.
Ball games: Movement patterns become more secure. Many toddlers are already really good at throwing, rolling and kicking balls.
Motor skills: Turn knobs are no longer much of a problem for children's hands. Many children can already unscrew bottles and lids without help.
Attention: At 23 months, toddlers love to get your attention. Whether they're being silly or completing tasks, they will probably be met with expectant faces more often.
