Which HABA marble run system is suitable for which age group?
HABA Kullerbü: Countless possibilities with maximum rolling fun
The play system HABA Kullerbü captivates children from the age of two with colorful play landscapes. In the HABA Kullerbü marble runs, the extra-large balls roll through archways with little bells, over colorful bridges and through steep curves. Thrilling driving fun can be found in the HABA Kullerbü play tracks, where small marble convertibles, pull-back racers and a train zip through the play landscape. Thanks to the clever click system, children can independently build new tracks again and again without anything slipping. Click, slot, done! The tall pillars really get the balls and vehicles moving, so the individual effects come into their own. HABA Kullerbü is the perfect combination of wooden and plastic parts and deliberately uses the advantages of each material. This guarantees varied and long-lasting play fun!
Various combination examples of different Kullerbü tracks can be found in the article HABA Kullerbü combinations: infinitely flexible play fun.

My first marble run: watch, explore, play
My first marble run is made entirely of wood and is suitable for children from 18 months. After their first attempts at stacking blocks, children of this age discover further ways of building. They explore the parts with all their senses, notice shape and size and find out which pieces fit together. With the help of an adult — or even on their own — they can click together a small course for the larger marbles. The pegs of the coloured connector blocks slot into the track sections of the marble run and provide sufficient stability. The low track lets the marbles roll with little momentum so that the individual effects along the course can be observed closely. Simply perfect for the first steps of a little builder!

Classic marble run: experimenting to create ever-new constructions
The ideal continuation of both systems is the classic marble run made of wood for children from the age of three. The marbles speed along the track, mastering tricky obstacles, airy heights and steep drops. Ramps, tubes, speed curves and sound funnels encourage children to experiment with different speeds and heights. They plan, build, rearrange and continually discover new things. Through play, a first understanding of the basic principles of statics and three-dimensional thinking is fostered.

HABA marble runs that grow with children
HABA marble runs are particularly notable because they grow with children and can be expanded and adapted to different ages with interesting extension sets. As children get older, they like to experiment more and quickly discover that curves, gradients and height affect how the marble rolls. By trying things out, rebuilding and repeating, children are introduced to simple laws of physics. The HABA-Kugelbahn-Systeme are precisely tailored to the age, needs and abilities of each target group and should therefore be regarded as self-contained systems. Even when little builders outgrow the target age for HABA Kullerbü or Meine erste Kugelbahn, it is still possible to continue the marble fun with the classic HABA-Kugelbahn.
Are the HABA-Kugelbahn systems compatible with one another?
The HABA-Kugelbahn systems are precisely tailored to the age, needs and abilities of each target group … and should therefore be regarded as self-contained systems.
Nevertheless, there are various ways to connect Meine erste Kugelbahn, the Kullerbü play system and the classic HABA-Kugelbahn with one another.
The extra-large, non‑swallowable wooden balls (Ø 4,6 cm) included in Meine erste Kugelbahn and the Kullerbü marble run are specially matched to the wide straights, curves and ramps of those two systems. By comparison, the tracks of the classic HABA-Kugelbahn have a considerably narrower milled groove through which the nimble colourful marbles (Ø 1 cm) can roll.
So, if Meine erste Kugelbahn or the Kullerbü marble run are fitted together with the classic HABA-Kugelbahn to create a new, larger marble-run layout, the following should be borne in mind:
Only the small marbles can roll through the complete construction; the large wooden balls cannot. For that reason it is important that the classic HABA-Kugelbahn always forms the starting point of the newly assembled marble-run. While the curves, straights and ramps from all three systems can be combined flexibly, some effects cannot be used together — or only to a limited extent. Two examples: only the large wooden balls can pass over the big hill-and-valley ramp or the looping ramp — both Kullerbü elements — while the small marbles cannot. Other Kullerbü elements, such as the windmill ramp, naturally allow the marbles to roll through without difficulty, but unlike the large Kullerbü wooden balls they cannot trigger the corresponding effect. The reason: their diameter is too small to set the windmills in motion.
Aside from that, creativity and imagination know no bounds when building and reconfiguring. Who can build the most exciting, fastest or tallest marble run?
