We are thrilled about this special award. It makes us proud and confirms how much joy, imagination and heart are in our new building-block world. The award is above all an occasion for us to celebrate together – with all the little builders and their families who build, play and invent their own stories with the blocks. Because it is exactly these imaginative play moments that make My First Block World something very special.
My First Block World – a building-block world where stories grow
Sometimes it all starts with a single block. A small wooden block in curious hands – and suddenly a stable appears, next to it a meadow, perhaps even a whole farm. With My First Block World from HABA, a lovingly designed wooden building-block world is created that grows with children, connects and continually surprises.My First Block World – Our Big Farmis the beginning: robust, easy-to-grasp blocks, animals, special details and the two figures Ella and Leo. Children from 1 year old (recommended from 1.5 years) can already stack, build and experiment here – without being overwhelmed, but with plenty of room for imagination. Stairs, windows, a gable roof or a tree made from the innovative RE-Wood® invite you to create your own structures. While a roof is placed or a fence rearranged, little hands unconsciously train fine motor skills and hand–eye coordination. And then the storytelling begins: the cow is fed, the hen lays an egg, the dog guards the farm. From individual blocks a lively scene emerges in which new adventures are possible every day.
What makes the figures in My First Block World special?
Ella and Leo make role play particularly tangible. The movable wooden figures have rotatable heads and movable legs – they can sit, stand, walk and actively take part in the action. This makes them appear alive and they quickly become familiar companions in play. When Ella bends down to feed the piglet or Leo takes a seat on the tractor, little stories arise all by themselves. Children slip into roles, care for animals, repair stables or harvest the crops. In the process, language, social skills and imagination develop step by step. The figures encourage reenacting everyday situations and contributing one’s own ideas. In this way free play becomes a stage for imagination, empathy and first little narratives that grow with every scene.

Starting from the Big Farm, the world grows piece by piece. Each expansion set brings new animals, building elements and play ideas into the wooden play world – and opens up its own little scenes in the countryside.

A block is never just a block: it becomes a fence, a drinking trough or a feeding trough – depending on the idea. Where is My First Block World manufactured and what wood is used?
My First Block World is original HABA quality. For almost 90 years HABA has been producing toys with quality, responsibility and child-friendly design at the center. For the blocks, carefully selected FSC-certified beech wood from sustainable forestry is used. The wood feels warm and natural, is durable and particularly stable – ideal for many years of intensive play. Special blocks such as stairs, windows, gable roof and tree are made from the innovative material RE-Wood®, which consists of 80% recycled wood residues and 20% recycled plastic. Of course all materials are safe for mouthing and processed securely. Sustainability, regional ties and responsible business practices are firmly anchored at HABA – for toys that can accompany generations.
