Full of new stimuli

Special features of the series

All games of the HABA series My First Games are specifically developed for toddlers. First, the little ones explore the material in free play and become familiar with it. Then it's about playing according to rules. Toddlers have no experience with board games yet. This is exactly where the series with simple rules and additional suggestions comes in. The games are perfect board games for toddlers aged 2 and up and support important developmental milestones. Depending on the game the game ideas increase in difficulty or there are several variants. So, My First Games continually offer new stimuli that provide age-appropriate support, promote children's development, stay interesting for a long time – and are great fun!

Step 2: Introduce children to simple rules

Understanding and following rules is important for early childhood development. Rules structure the social coexistence both at home and in daycare or kindergarten. These are key skills that children need in all life situations and can practice playfully with HABA games.

Step 3: Playing variations

Once the children have understood the basic rules and played several times, they can try somewhat more challenging variants with their parents. The instructions in My First Games are varied. This keeps the games interesting for a long time.

Every child is unique in personality and development. Thanks to the varied design of the board games parents can respond to their child's needs at every stage and have a lot of fun playing together. Each game has a different focus – what they all have in common is that they guide parents 'by the hand' and help them step by step with tips to support their children's individual development while playing.

Sorting games as an introduction to board games

And where does that belong?

In My first games there are many examples where children have to sort game pieces according to certain criteria. In familiar games like Colors & Shapes, the Rainbow Slide & First Orchard they look closely, notice the details of the game pieces, their colors and shapes. Then they sort them. This also promotes the logical thinking and the ability to solve problems.

Standing up for others

When children play board games, they often take on other roles. For example, those of the plush toys in the game Duck Hat, All's Well! Here they help giraffe, fox, frog & co. find their hats and are happy when everything works out in the end. In the game Feed Me they learn that animals sometimes get very hungry. And find out what cat, turtle and mouse eat. They find the right food for the animals, train their memory and empathize with other beings.

Recognize fruits & name colors

Hanni Honeybee and My First Orchard are two classics for practicing speech. While the children help Hanni the bee fill the honey jar by correctly naming colors, they find the right names for the fruits in the orchard. They practice full sentences, describe fruits, colors and what is happening, and thereby playfully expand their vocabulary.
