Dry on the outside, wet on the inside: HABA water play mats are filled with water and surrounded by a soft fabric cover on which babies can lie comfortably. Through large viewing windows they look into a colorful underwater world where—depending on the theme of the water play mat—various sea creatures swim by. The elements in the water can be easily moved back and forth with the hands. Because the children lie on their stomachs, they have to push themselves up a little while playing. That strengthens the neck and back muscles from the start and trains motor skills. At the same time, the great floating effect amazes the little ones and stimulates their imagination. At what age is a water play mat suitable for your child?
As with any other toy, the moment when a child discovers a preference and interest in it is as individual as the child. In general, HABA water play mats are recommended for babies from 6 months. By then most infants have progressed enough in their physical development to push up their upper body while lying on their stomach and remain in that position for some time. This allows your child to explore the underwater world thoroughly!
How do HABA water play mats work?
HABA water play mats have a capacity of approximately 1.6 liters of water. They are easily filled through a valve with a diameter of just over two centimeters. This valve also provides a secure closure. We of course ensure high-quality workmanship so that babies cannot (accidentally) open the water play mat. If desired, you can also boil the water before filling. This prevents the growth of algae and germs. Once the water has cooled to a comfortable temperature, it can be poured into the water play mat. That way your child lies on a warm surface while playing. Of course the entire water play mat can be easily wiped clean with a damp cloth. By the way: the fabric cover is removable and can be cleaned on a gentle 30-degree cycle.
