The elements inside the water can easily be moved by hand. Because the children lie on their tummies, they have to push themselves up slightly while playing. This strengthens the neck and back muscles from an early stage and helps develop motor skills. At the same time, the impressive floating effect amazes little ones and sparks their imagination. From what age is a water play mat suitable for your child?
As with any other toy, the moment when a child discovers a liking or interest for it is as individual as the child itself. As a rule, HABA water play mats are recommended for babies from 6 months. By then most infants have progressed enough in their physical development to push their upper body up while lying on their tummy and to hold that position for some time. That way your child can explore the underwater world at length!
How do HABA water play mats work?
HABA water play mats hold approximately 1.6 litres of water. They are easily filled via a valve just over two centimetres in diameter. This valve also provides a secure seal. We, of course, ensure high-quality workmanship so that babies cannot (accidentally) open the water play mat. If you wish, you can also boil the water before filling to prevent the formation of algae and germs. Once the water has cooled to a pleasant temperature, it can be poured into the mat, so your child lies on a warm surface while playing. The entire water play mat can be wiped clean with a damp cloth. By the way: the fabric cover is removable and can be washed at 30°C on a gentle cycle.
