Face painting for kids: More colorful is always better

Planning a garden party: Lion, butterfly, or pirate. Face painting never goes out of style. With a kids' face painting kit and great designs you can transform the party guests into big birthday stars — the little ones will line up! A practical side effect: this lets you as a parent keep a good eye on your little guests and the birthday child.

Decor: Gone with the Wind

Planning a garden party: To let everyone know 'a birthday is being celebrated here': hang colorful balloons or small pennants on bushes, trees, or playground equipment. Picnic blankets, folding tables and benches form the meeting point and provide a place for food, dishes and craft corners. Choose a spot in partial shade. A cooler bag also prevents birthday treats from melting in the sun. To avoid carrying too much, the motto here is 'less is more'.

Games: Start, fun, finish

Sack race, egg-and-spoon race, jumping rope, towel tossing, Chinese jump rope, hitting the pot, balloon dance ... There are so many ways to bring great children's games — perhaps even from your own childhood — to life. Set up an obstacle course with several stations. Each child gets their own game pass, in which points for great tournament performances are recorded after each game. Of course, a prize ceremony with medals for all kids shouldn't be missing at the end.

Tournament food: Snack and go

Preparation is the be-all and end-all and makes organization on site easier. How about a barbecue? Sausages and grilled vegetable skewers aren't too heavy, are eaten quickly and give energy for the next round of games. Salads, watermelon wedges and muffins are enough. Juice spritzers from a beverage container, jazzed up with fresh fruit and berries, are an absolute hit as thirst quenchers.

Tip:

Please ask for sufficient sun protection already in the invitation. If you have the opportunity, set up a paddling pool on hot summer days — don't forget swimsuit and towel. That refreshes not only little tournament champions, but mom and dad can cool their feet in between as well.
