We're pregnant: Funny photo ideas

Photos of the growing family

• Mental arithmetic: A funny idea is a photo of you and your partner that you turn into a simple equation with a marker: write a „+“ sign between you and to the right an „= 3“. The picture also works with siblings — the result would then be „= 4“, „= 5“ and so on.

• Simple and beautiful: Very evocative are photos of accessories or household items in different sizes. For example, a pair of shoes for each family member and next to them a tiny pair of baby booties with the due date. Or line up your coffee mug, your partner's mug and a baby bottle side by side – there are countless possibilities.

Belly photos work even at the beginning of pregnancy. Often it's quickly clear what you want to say with them. If you like, you can write a funny message on the belly so there are no doubts:

• Loading …: Paint a partially filled loading bar like on a PC on the belly and write underneath „Loading 30 %“ (for example for the third month of pregnancy)

• Coming soon: At the start of pregnancy you can simply write „Coming soon …“ on the belly with a black makeup pencil. Later you might already know the gender and name of your baby and could write, for example, „Max … coming soon“.

• Big brother/big sister-to-be: If you already have a child, you can take a photo of them holding up a sign: „Big brother/Big sister from …“

• Not an only child anymore: Alternatively your child can pose with the ultrasound image and you write a funny caption, for example „I'm getting reinforcements from …“ or „Only child – but not for long“

• Eviction: If your child is still relatively small, you can photograph them in their baby bed or playpen and write: „Eviction order for xx.xx.xx. The new occupant is expected to move in on the day of eviction.“

Creative greeting cards for expecting grandparents

Voucher

Send the grandparents-to-be a nicely designed card on which you write:

„Voucher for a grandchild.

Redeemable on XX.XX.XX (due date)“

If you wish, you can also include an ultrasound picture in the card.

Order confirmation

Send a neutral card or a formal letter with the following text:

„Hello,

Your order has been received.

Model: Grandchild,

Product data: Size approx. 50 cm, weight approx. 3.500g,

Product specifications: enchanting and particularly well-behaved.

Unfortunately we must inform you that the desired model is currently out of stock. We will send you an available model at the next possible date (expected on xx.xx.xx).

Small gifts to announce the pregnancy

Baby socks by post:

You can send the prospective grandparents or other family members a package with tiny baby socks by post without further comment. On the inside of the package or on a separate card simply write your name and your partner's name as well as the calculated due date.

Photo album:

Make a small photo album of you and your partner, possibly also of your first child or the family dog. On the last page you can stick an ultrasound picture and write: "To be continued ... on xx.xx.xx".

How do you announce the pregnancy to the family?

Of course it's nicest to deliver the big news in person. If that's not possible or if you want a wow effect, you can also convey the baby news in the form of a small gift.

Good news in a fortune cookie:

You can bake fortune cookies yourself, or you can also order them online and have them filled with custom messages. Maybe invite family and friends for a meal and hand out the fortune cookies after the meal with the joyful message: We're having a baby!
