Get out into nature: family outing in summer

Picnic:

A large blanket, tasty and healthy snacks for the whole family. On a large meadow in the park around the corner or on a short trip – a picnic is fun for the whole family. And you only have to spend as much money as you need for the food.

Visit castles:

Are there atmospheric ruins or old castles in your area? Often little or no admission is charged. The narrow passageways, crumbling corners and small niches will surely stimulate your children's imagination and allow them to picture themselves back in the time of knights and maidens.

Adventure playground:

Large playgrounds with great equipment are a real highlight for any family outing. Adventure playgrounds, in addition to the usual play equipment, usually also offer the opportunity to practice coordination and let off steam.

Bike tour:

You can make a bike tour with children more interesting if you choose a large seating area as the destination or organize a tasty picnic halfway through. That motivates and delights the whole family. In the process everyone gets enough exercise and will fall into bed tired in the evening.

Water activities:

Whether you have a large bathing lake, a river or a babbling brook nearby: bodies of water are always worth it for a family outing. Here your child can splash to their heart's content, build little boats and set them sailing. Maybe you can even organize a small family boat race.

Family outing – destinations for the whole year

There are destinations you can plan all year round with the right clothing. No matter the time, your child will always discover something new – boredom rarely sets in.

Forest walk

In spring buds and early-blooming flowers appear everywhere, waiting to be discovered and admired. In summer the tall trees provide welcome shade: in autumn your children can collect acorns and chestnuts and make fun little forest characters at home. When the first snow has fallen in winter, your child can especially well see the different animal tracks and guess who has just walked through the forest.

Wildlife park

Whether you watch the park residents' offspring in spring or meet and feed the animals in their enclosures during the rest of the year – there's something to discover in a wildlife park all year round. The enclosures are usually not free. However, far less admission is charged here than in the large zoos.

Watching planes

At the airport you can watch takeoffs and landings all year round. If there is an airfield near you, your child will surely be delighted by a visit and will watch the activity on the tarmac with wide eyes. Some airports also have visitor terraces that you can enter without a plane ticket for little or no cost.

Low budget in winter: What can you do with children?

Trip to the library:

An often-forgotten destination. But children love to wander between the shelves, browse the displays for new books, flip through magazines and then take their favorites home. So in bad weather you can easily plan a visit to the library.

Botanical garden:

The huge greenhouses are heated all year round. A visit is like a short vacation in a tropical country. Besides the many great and exotic plants, you can often spot a few animals here as well. A visit to a butterfly house is particularly nice, for example.

Sledding:

When the first snow has fallen, the classic budget-friendly outing is on offer. Bundled up with a hat, gloves and a snowsuit, your child can romp around freely in the white wonderland and sled down hills and slopes.
