Getting children excited about bath time

But there are also little water-shy ones: stepping into puddles in wellies is fine, but dipping into the bath water — and especially having their hair washed — is a nightmare for them. Here, fun toys can help to reduce fear and bring relaxation and fun to the bath.

Water toys for little adventurers

Splashing, dripping, pouring and filling – water is a fantastic element and with exciting water toys the bathing fun for children gets even bigger.

For little adventurers the cool red fire-fighting plane is just the thing. It’s especially funny that you can stop the flow of water from the holes in the plane’s belly by pressing your finger over the top hole. The little plastic beads inside bob about amusingly and the propeller can be turned. So: dive under quickly, take on water and off you go to the rescue! It works just as well indoors in the bathroom as it does outside in the paddling pool, pool or outdoor swimming pool.

Also the toddler bucket, bath boat, squirty figures and the Angelsest Meerestiere belong in every bath-fun bag and are light and quick to pack and take – just like the cute bath boats Frosch ahoi!, Ente ahoi! and Maus ahoi!, which float on the water’s surface. Each comes with an adorable finger puppet that provides animal-strong bathing fun. And with the bath boat Tiermatrosen ahoi! there’s even a whole crew on board: Sailor Frog scans the horizon with his binoculars, Sailor Duck always carries a swimming ring in case of rough seas and Sailor Mouse always has snorkelling gear with her.

The Kugelbahn Badespaß is perfect for all children who love to play in the tub. The tracks and play elements of the marble run have suction cups and stick to all smooth surfaces. They can be flexibly combined and rearranged again and again. Once they’re attached, it’s all systems go: the marble darts from one track to the next, sets the paddle wheel turning and finally falls into the water. And of course the marble run is also great fun when you send water through the setup with the included ladle.

And if you like, at the end of an exciting day you can open a café in the bathtub. Pour bath water from a toddler watering can into a cup and serve it as “tea”, whisk it into the foam with the bath-foam whisk and then pile it onto a plastic plate as a “cream cake” to serve – little role-plays like this are great fun for all children.

Suitable books for more bath-time fun

Ideal for little bookworms and water-lovers alike are the HABA bath books Tiermatrosen ahoi! and Wasserdrache Fridolin, because they bring lots of fun and variety to the bathroom and paddling pool. The accordion-style books contain no letters but plenty of cute animal motifs to discover. And the special trick: thanks to their sand filling the bath books float upright in the water.

There are also books about the bathroom in the HABA range: Ähne utzen is a rather unusual tooth-brushing book by illustrator Valeska Scholz. With playful animal wordplay, toothy illustrations and a very special surprise effect, reluctant brushers are turned into tooth-scrubbing fans.

With so many toys and books for the bathtub, paddling pool and more, bath-time fun for children can begin, can't it?
