Hello, I'm Andreas!
I am <Prod.Verlinkung> veterinarian in the <Prod.Verlinkung>animal clinic of the Little Friends. This is a very exciting job, because every day is completely different! Today I want to tell you a little bit about our clinic and the animal visitors who come to us.
09:00 AM: The day at the animal clinic begins
When I get up in the morning, I'm already looking forward to all the patients who await me on this new day. At the veterinary practice I meet my colleague <Prod.Verlinkung> Rebekka. Rebekka can easily calm excited animals! That's great, because it's much easier to treat an animal on the examination table that isn't afraid. Soon the first four-legged friends and their owners are waiting for us.
11:00 AM: Visit from Villa Frühlingsmorgen
Now it's <Prod.Verlinkung>Matze and his <Prod.Verlinkung>cat Sally, who hasn't wanted to eat anything since yesterday, is next. Matze is very worried, but Rebekka explains to him exactly how we will examine Sally to find out what's wrong. I lift the kitten onto the examination table and begin to feel Sally over and examine her with the instruments from my doctor's bag. Rebekka and Matze stroke the cat and she lies completely still. Finally I discover that the poor thing has an inflammation of the gums! With toothache, Sally of course doesn't want to eat anything; that's clear. Rebekka finds the tablets that will make the cat feel better quickly. She also gets an injection for the pain and I explain to Matze that Sally should be kept calm for the next few days so that she recovers quickly and wants to eat like before. That would be taken care of!
3:30 PM: An emergency, quickly to the farm!
The phone rings and I learn from Farmer Franz that his cow will soon have her calf! That's why I quickly grab my bag and drive with the vet car to the farm, because in case of complications during a birth it's important that a veterinarian can intervene quickly.
Once there I go straight into the barn, where Farmer Franz and little Vreni are already waiting for me. Vreni is very excited and curious about the new calf! Fortunately I don't have to do much at all, because nature has arranged it so that animals can give birth to their young without humans having to help.
When the little calf is born, I wait to see if it can find the mother's udder. "Great, that worked!", Franz rejoices. Afterwards I examine the animal's legs, belly and head and discuss with Farmer Franz when the calf needs to be vaccinated. "Will that hurt him?" Vreni asks worriedly. "Only for a short moment!", I promise and explain to her that the newborn calf can thus be protected from many diseases.
6:00 PM: Four-legged overnight guests
In the evening Rebekka and I take care once more of the patients that we have to keep in the animal clinic for a short time to continue observing them. We examine each animal, feed them, sometimes take a little blood and change bandages. On the large scale we also check whether our patients are gaining or losing weight, because that is often a good indicator to determine how their health is developing. Some of our guests we can send home again tomorrow morning because they are healthy again. For that we will be needed elsewhere again; it won't be boring for us!
