Land in sight!“, cries the sailor in the crow's nest and already all the pirate apes rush to the rail. Indeed: there before them, in the middle of the endless, deep-blue ocean, lies a small lonely island. It is farther from the nearest mainland than all the other islands. „Move it, you lazy sailors!“, shouts the Captain. „Up with the sails, hard on the wind and into adventure … for on that island awaits a legendary treasure of gold!“ The high waves make the pirate ship rock back and forth and the strong wind tugs at the sails. „Attention, strong sea currents and sharp rocks!“, calls the sailor down from the mast top. He sits up in the basket and has the best view. Carefully the helmsman steers the pirate apes' ship around the reefs. He keeps the small island firmly in view. But what's that? In front of the island a red-shimmering hill rises out of the water. The helmsman blinks. No, he is not mistaken. „Captain, look up ahead!“, he cries in horror. What he sees sends a shiver down his spine. The Captain opens his eyes wide, quickly pulls out his spyglass and looks through it: In front of the white beach of the small island sprawls a huge octopus in the shallow water. His long octopus arms lash through the waves and make them foam. It looks as if the water is boiling. But then the huge creature suddenly calms down and lies still. „Stay perfectly calm!“, says the Captain to his helmsman. „Just aim for the eastern shore of the island. There the beach is still shallow and we will go around the octopus.“ The helmsman corrects the course and the pirate apes' ship turns slightly in the new direction. But just as they are level with the octopus, the cook in the galley, which is located deep in the belly of the pirate ship, drops a bowl of banana salad. The clattering and rattling is deafening and very audible up on deck. „Great pirate-banana-darn!“, the cook shouts loudly and adds a stream of curses. The Captain and the helmsman flinch … but it is already too late. The water around the octopus begins to seethe and bubble again. And already a huge face lifts out of the waves.

Who dares to approach my island?“ The voice of the kraken rumbles like a thunderstorm. But the Captain is not intimidated and steps confidently to the railing. „I am Captain Alfonso, the most fearsome, dangerous, bravest, best and so on and so on pirate-captain of the seven seas. Haven't you heard of me? In any case, I am the captain of this brave pirate crew and in charge here.“ „So, so, the most fearsome, dangerous, bravest, best and so on and so on pirate-captain of the seven seas – I hear that a lot, but it has never helped anyone! I am Titus Tentacle and will show you who is in charge here!“, roars the kraken, swings with his long kraken arms and starts to lift the pirate ship out of the waves. But he immediately lets it drop again and begins to scream. „Ow-ow-ow!“, howls the kraken so loudly that the pirate apes' ears ring. They quickly cover their ears and pick themselves up again. The Captain looks over at the kraken. Titus Tentacle writhes in the water and moans on and on .

„Hey, Captain“, says the helmsman, „take a look at the suckers on the kraken's arms.“ Then the Captain also notices: The suckers are bright red and full of wood splinters. „I think, the kraken is quite injured“, notes the Captain. „Good for us. Then we can grab the treasure now, it won't even notice!“ But Captain Alfonso was mistaken: As soon as the pirate ship steers toward the beach, the kraken pushes itself in front. „Hey, you little wannabe pirates“, rumbles Titus Tentacle, „I may not be in shape, but you still won't outsmart me!“ The Captain thinks and then makes a proposal: „So, Titus Tentacle, you clearly have a problem with your kraken arms. We can pull out the wood splinters, but for that we want your treasure.

But you won't get my whole treasure for that. I'll give each of you one gold coin.“ „No, we want three coins per man!“, demands Captain Alfonso. „We'll start with four of your eight arms and then we'll get the gold. Afterwards we'll take care of the other four arms.“ Titus Tentacle grumbles and agrees and stretches his kraken arms toward the pirate ship. The pirate apes skillfully climb to the suckers and pull out the splinters. After they have cleaned four arms, Titus Tentacle hoists a chest of gold coins up onto the deck for them. The pirate apes also keep their promise and clean the other kraken arms. „I must thank you“, admits Titus Tentacle. „But now make sure you move on and don't try to steal my treasure anymore!“ The pirate apes set sail and head for the next island. „Goodbye!“, calls Captain Alfonso in farewell, „you know, I am the most fearsome, dangerous, bravest, best and so on and so on pirate-captain of the seven seas. When we have plundered the treasures of the other islands, we'll come back!“ He waves to the kraken with his black pirate hat and grins.
