„Great, the sun's coming out!“, calls Matze as he sits and plays in the building corner after lunch at kindergarten. In the morning it had still been raining, but now the first bright sunbeams peek through the clouds and make the puddles on the square in front of the kindergarten and on the meadow sparkle. „Okay, kids, time to tidy up!“, says caregiver Nina. „Whoever is finished may get dressed and go outside.“

Now Felicitas jumps up too. She had been looking at picture books with Lilli and Imke, but already she dashes to the cloakroom. „Wait! We're supposed to tidy up!“, calls Lilli after her. But Felicitas is already gone. „Don't worry about it“, says Imke, „then the two of us will just tidy up.“ The girls put the picture books in the box and then go to the cloakroom as well. There's a big crush here, because after the rainy morning everyone wants to get out quickly now.

When Imke and Lilli stand in front of the house, they see that Matze and Felicitas have already grabbed the soccer ball. „Today we're having a super cool soccer tournament!“, shouts Matze. „Imke, Lilli, you're joining, right?“ Imke nods and pulls Lilli over to Matze and Felicitas. Then Mali and Elise also come out of the house. Matze waves them over and divides the teams: „Imke and Lilli play with me, Mali and Elise play with Felicitas“, he decides. „Too bad Milla isn't here“, says Felicitas. „Yes, true“, Matze confirms, „she plays pretty well. But you know she's visiting her dad right now. He lives in another city so she can't see him that often. But Milla will be back on Monday, then she can play again.“

The children go onto the meadow with the ball. Imke notices that the grass is still pretty wet. „Do you want to be in goal?“, she asks Lilli, who looks a little shy and then nods hesitantly. „I can't play soccer at all“, she then says. „At least my big brother says that.“ „Oh nonsense, we'll probably have lots of fun!“, Imke tries to reassure her.

And then it starts: Lilli stands in one goal, Elise in the other. Felicitas gets the ball, her team may start. She kicks to Mali and sprints off. In doing so she slips on the wet grass and almost falls. Only with effort can she keep her balance. When she looks to Mali, she sees that Matze has already taken the ball from her. „Darn!“, shouts Felicitas and runs after him immediately. But Matze already has a lead, shoots and … „Gooaaal!“ Matze, Imke and Lilli cheer. „I'm totally a soccer star!“, boasts Matze. But Felicitas is annoyed: „He only scored because I slipped!“

Now everyone pays close attention and so they play the ball back and forth for quite a long time. At times the ball is with Imke, then again with Matze or Mali. Suddenly Felicitas storms toward the opponent's goal and shoots. But the ball slips off her foot and has less momentum, so Lilli can stop it. „Great!“, calls Imke. „See, you can play soccer after all. Go ahead and tell that to your big brother!“, she quickly adds. Lilli grins happily. But Felicitas is, of course, annoyed again. A little later another goal chance arises for her: Mali crosses the ball to Felicitas, who immediately sprints off. Matze runs after her … and while the ball lands in the goal, he slips and falls down. „Equalizer!“, shouts Felicitas. Elise and Mali are happy too. Lilli looks a bit startled, but Imke says: „No one could have stopped that ball, don't worry about it!“

And Matze? He picks himself up and looks down at himself: his clothes are pretty soaked and full of dirt. „Oh Matze“, says Mali, „you're not a soccer star, but a dirt-ball star!“ The girls have to laugh quite loudly about that. Matze looks angry at first, but then he grins too. „That's it for today!“, calls Nina and comes to the children on the meadow. „Gosh Matze, what do you look like?“, she asks in amazement. „Well, I look just like the soccer pros after a rain match!“, he says proudly and goes into the house with the others.
