The play to act out

Little Red Riding Hood:

(enters singing onto the stage) Lalala, what a lovely day! The sun is shining, the birds are singing … and I'm walking through the forest with my basket. Oh! There are a lot of children here. Are you all here?

(the children answer)

Little Red Riding Hood:

Great that you're all here! Then you can accompany me to my grandmother's house. My mother said I should always stay on the path because there is a wolf in the forest. But none of us are afraid of the wolf, are we? No!

(the children answer)

Little Red Riding Hood:

I'm not afraid of anything at all! Lalala … lalala … lalala …. (walks on happily, then suddenly stops singing and stands still) Well, what was that? Did you see that too?

(the curtain moves)

Little Red Riding Hood:

Oh dear! Look closely, something moved! And what if that's the wolf? And what if he's mean after all? I'd better hide quickly! (Little Red Riding Hood exits)

Police officer:

(comes onto the stage) Ah, what a wonderful day! The sun is shining and I'm on patrol in the forest. Hello children, I'm Officer Waldemar. Have you seen a wolf around here?

(the children answer)

Little Red Riding Hood:

(peeks out from behind the curtain and watches what happens)

Police officer:

Was anyone else walking in the forest?

(the children answer)

Little Red Riding Hood:

(comes onto the stage) Yes, I'm walking in the forest. Good day, Officer! Fortunately it's you and not the wolf!

Police officer:

(looks surprised) Well hello! Who are you? (to the children) Do you know her? Who is that?

(the children answer)

Police officer:

Ah, so you're Little Red Riding Hood. And what are you doing alone in the forest?

Little Red Riding Hood:

I'm on my way to my grandmother's to bring her freshly baked cake.

Police officer:

Then I'll accompany you for a bit. (they exit together)

Wolf:

(enters the stage and growls) Uaaaa, I'm so hungry. But when you sleep as long as I do … you must be ravenously hungry. I'll drop by Grandmother's to see what tasty things there are to eat. (slinks to Grandmother's house and scratches at the door)

Grandma:

(hears the scratching and gets frightened) What is that sound? Heeelp! I can hardly see … and I've misplaced my glasses again. Can someone tell me who that is?

(the children answer)

Grandma:

(calming down) Oh, it's only the wolf. Well then I can open the door. And where are my glasses? Oh yes, on my nose! (goes to the door) Hello Wolf! How are you?

Wolf:

(comes in) Hello Grandmother, I'm terribly hungry! Ow, ow, ow, ow… (whines pitifully) My stomach already hurts. Do you have anything to eat for me?

Grandma:

(worried) Poor, poor wolf. You do look completely famished. Maybe I have some soup left and a few biscuits for you. Wait a moment, I'll be right back. (Grandmother exits)

Little Red Riding Hood:

(knocks on the door) Hello Grandmother! It's me, your Little Red Riding Hood!

Wolf:

(holds a paw over her mouth and whispers) Oh dear, someone's knocking. That's just what I needed. I need to find a hiding place quickly!

Little Red Riding Hood:

(comes in and is startled when she sees the wolf) My goodness, Grandmother, what's the matter with you? Why do you have such big eyes? Why do you have such big ears? And … why do you have such a big mouth?

Wolf:

(giggles) A big mouth, hehe. Yes, I'm a bigmouth, hehe.

Little Red Riding Hood:

Hey, you're not the Grandmother at all!

Wolf:

Smart Little Red Riding Hood, hehe. (laughs wickedly) I am the bad wolf. I have big eyes so I can see you well. I have big ears so I can hear you well. And I have a big mouth so I can eaaaat a lot.

Little Red Riding Hood:

(shouts) What, you ate my Grandmother? (starts hitting the wolf) You ugly furball, spit my Grandmother out immediately! Children, help me call the officer: Officer!

(the children shout along)

Wolf:

(curls up and lies very still)

Police officer:

(rushes in) What? Where? What? Who called for me here?

Wolf:

(slowly gets up) Exactly, Little Red Riding Hood! That's not done: Shame on you!

Little Red Riding Hood:

There's the bad wolf who ate my Grandmother!

Grandma:

(comes in, worried) Oh my goodness! Little Red Riding Hood, what on earth did you do to the poor wolf? You can't just hit him!

Wolf:

(slowly gets up) Exactly, Little Red Riding Hood! That's not done: Shame on you!

Little Red Riding Hood:

(completely confused) But, but … (stammers) I thought you had eaten my Grandmother! (on the verge of tears)

Wolf:

Oh nonsense! I would never eat Grandmother. She always gives me something to eat when my stomach rumbles … like right now.

Police officer:

(confused) What now? The wolf isn't actually mean? And Grandmother and the wolf are friends?

Grandma:

Yes, exactly. This is my dear friend, the wolf. Unfortunately I only have some soup left. The biscuits have sadly all been eaten.

Wolf:

Ooooh, but I'm sooo huuuungry.

Police officer: (disappointed) Shame, now I can't arrest anyone and put them in jail.

Little Red Riding Hood:

All right, Wolf, then I apologize to you. What do you think about all of us eating the delicious cake I'm carrying in my basket now?

Wolf:

(claps paws excitedly) Oh, yes, yes, yes. Cake! Cake!

Goodbye, children! Until next time!
