Appointments – What's scheduled in the 11th month?
U6:The last scheduled examination by the pediatrician was already several months ago. If the U6 was not carried out in the tenth month, it can now take place. During this examination the pediatrician checks your baby with regard to age-appropriate speech and motor skills. This examination is important to detect any possible delays or postural issues and to take measures to promote development.
Vaccination:The so-called six-in-one vaccination can be given in up to four doses. If you have opted for vaccination, the final dose may be due in the eleventh month to ensure adequate protection.
Important developmental milestones in the 11th month
Mobility:Many babies can already move around well on their own at eleven months. In addition to belly scooting and crawling, some children also use bottom-shuffling, which takes the place of crawling.
Gaining momentum:Many babies 'gather momentum' to start crawling. While lying on their stomach they pull their legs under their body and push up on their arms. They rock back and forth until they finally start moving.
Standing:By the end of the eleventh month, some babies can stand securely and without support. In this, thesense of balanceand their muscles are often sufficiently developed to bend at the knees from a standing position and to pick up objects.
Vroom vroom:Whereas previously mostly random sounds came from your baby, it now begins to use recurring syllables for certain objects: the moving car goes 'vroom vroom', the dog 'woof woof'.
Communication:By eleven months your baby already knows many sounds. It increasingly tries to communicate with you and laughs a lot. Listen attentively to your baby when it 'talks' to you; this will motivate it to practise speaking.
Independence:Your child is motivated to move around without your help. Nevertheless, it's important that you always stay nearby.
How much should my child weigh at 11 months?
Your little one appears a bit slimmer on the tummy, arms and legs and the little face is also less round. Your baby continues to gain weight and builds muscles through active movement. Body weight is normally between 8.700 and 9.400 grams, height between 73 and 75 centimeters.
