Appointments – what's coming up in the 7th month?

  • U5: If the U5 was not carried out in the sixth month of life, now is the right time. You can clarify any open questions with the pediatrician and get tips if needed.

  • Make the home childproof: As your child becomes more mobile, it's time to remove sources of danger in the home. This includes, for example, installing safety gates and socket covers, as well as securely fastening shelves and cabinets to the wall. Children who already pull themselves up on furniture have with Non-slip socks provide better stability.

  • PEKiP: PEKiP courses are very popular and are offered almost everywhere. The Prague Parent-Child Program is a concept for early stimulation that aims to strengthen the parent-child bond through play, provide contact with children of the same age, offer play, movement and sensory stimulation, and give parents the opportunity to exchange experiences with other parents. You can participate in a PEKiP course from the U3 until your child starts to walk.

Important developmental milestones in the 7th month

  • Sense of touch: Babies increasingly explore objects with their hands. The sense of touch is developed enough that it can distinguish between warm and cold or soft and hard. Integration of sensory perceptions: Around seven months, babies can link different sensory impressions. Your child now understands that, for example, visual and auditory impressions can have the same source, such as a toy that makes noises.

  • Sitting: Many babies try to get into a sitting position at seven months. Give your baby time for this development – if you sit them up too early, the spine can be damaged.

  • Mobility: Some babies begin to scoot now. You can encourage the urge to move by placing favorite toys slightly out of reach.

  • Hopping: Babies love their newfound mobility and strength. For many seven-month-olds, bouncing while standing or sitting on a lap is the best thing.

  • Courage: Babies' curiosity to discover new things remains undiminished. Strengthen the bond with your child through shared activities and encourage them to discover new things.

  • Perception: Your baby can now also recognize you in the mirror or in photos. When your baby sees you in the mirror, it turns toward you. However, it will still be quite a while before it recognizes itself.

How much should my child weigh in the 7th month?

Your child weighs between 7.600 and 8.300 grams in the seventh month and is approx. 67 to 69 centimeters tall. Since your baby is now very agile and moves a lot, the abdominal and back muscles become increasingly developed.
