Which toys should you take on vacation?

The vacation is coming and excitement is high. Just like your children's expectations, who would most like to take a a colorful pile of travel toys want. Depending on whether you travel by car, train, or plane, your options are limited.

When choosing travel toys, make sure that they are small, lightweight, and durable is. It should not be too bulky and fit well in your travel bags. Compact travel games are great for carry-on luggage, as are children's books and audio stories or children's music. Larger toys must then find space in the suitcase when flying or on the train, or be safely stowed in the trunk during a car trip. It's best to try out what works and what doesn't and talk about it openly with your kids so that they know, which travel toys they can look forward to.

If your children help with packing, it's best to decide beforehand how much toy they are allowed to take. The favorite cuddly toy or the newly beloved toy may of course come along. But especially if you are staying in a family hotel, there is probably already a lot of exciting toys, that will keep your little ones entertained. Think about which toys could be a lot of fun at your destination, invite your children to new adventures and may not be available locally.

The best travel toys for toddlers & older kids

When vacation approaches, many parents ask themselves while planning: Which travel toys are suitable for toddlers and bring them lots of joy? The answer is quite clear: Everything is allowed, as long as it matches your child's interests! What is particularly valuable is: Toys that open up age-appropriate new worlds for your little ones and playfully promote important skills such as cognition, motor skills, or creativity.

Many Families enjoy shared time on vacation with lots of activity, whether it's walking, hiking, or playing in the garden of their holiday home. The right active toy shouldn't be missing, of course!

When packing all the toys for your vacation, remember: Less is more! If your children are old enough, you can make a selection of up to 10 toys for the vacation. Make sure there is something for every occasion – from the small travel game to the favorite doll to the perfect toy for the beach vacation. Too many toys can sometimes overwhelm children and also take up a lot of space in your bag. Find a good compromise between toys for the vacation, for active, creative and perhaps also for the quiet moments with children's books and audio plays.

How can I keep my child occupied on vacation?

You can entertain your children with many activities on vacation. If they are still very small, it's sensible for them to have their favorite things with them and, for example, be able to play with them in the stroller. In the luggage for trips with babies and toddlers should definitely include books, children's music and soft toys to keep them occupied. If your children are already older, their surroundings become increasingly interesting for them. Then you can also actively involve them in holiday planning and research for activities. On a city trip, for example, sights and places that also interest your kids. When planning your active holiday, which activities will keep your children most occupied – from swimming to digging in the sand with sand toys up to the ball games.

Which toys are allowed in carry-on baggage?

For example, they fit perfectly into the small carry-on bag for our children's wardrobe trolley. Toy weapons are prohibited – because they could be mistaken for real weapons. Just like toys that contain older, damaged batteries, such as toy cars, and therefore are easily flammable, may be inspected and removed at the airport.
